Youth Safeguarding
WeDemo Africa programmes are designed for young adults (typically 18–29), especially university students and early-career youth. Children under 18 are not a primary user group. Household benefit to children is indirect (safer youth income and skills).
Who this covers
Members, campus applicants, advocates, ambassadors, mentees, and anyone interacting in WeDemo spaces (platform, events, WhatsApp/Telegram chapter groups convened under our name).
Our commitments
- No exploitation, harassment, or grooming of young people.
- Mentorship is professional: advocates do not request sexual content, unpaid labour disguised as “tasks,” or private payments outside approved partner platforms.
- We minimise personal data collected on application forms and campus reports.
- We do not publish identifiable youth case studies without consent.
- Campus events should be in appropriate venues with a named organiser.
Code of conduct
Everyone in WeDemo spaces agrees to:
- Treat peers with respect; no hate speech, bullying, or discrimination.
- Keep confidential any personal stories shared in welfare or mentorship sessions.
- Report suspected scams, fake job offers, or unsafe requests immediately.
- Not recruit minors into paid digital work through WeDemo channels.
How to report
If you feel unsafe, or you see someone at risk, contact us. You do not need to have “proof” — good-faith reports are enough for us to look into it.
Report a safeguarding concernUse subject “Youth safeguarding”. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
